The Social Media 365 Project

Social Media 365 Day 7, Twitter & Linkedin like peanut butter and chocolate

Day 7/365 of the Social Media 365 Project (The day when Twitter and Linkedin got together)

We started off the day wondering about what to post today, yesterday we had a very good post on twitter lists and as days pass by blogging is really getting tougher. You need fresh and meaningful content to blog about otherwise you readers will flee away. We had plans of blogging about something else (You will have that post tomorrow), but as this is the biggest news of the day we decided to do justice to our name “Social Media Marketing Alerts” and hence wanted to post on the latest buzz news thats around. Its been just two minutes since we have searched linkedin on twitter and see the number of people who have already spoken about it. This is sure going to be a trending topic.

So what is this feature all about? To put it in simple terms, your twitter& linkedin updates can now be synced. The feature has not yet released but the first look of the feature has been uploaded on the linkedin blog. So whats cool about this feature?

First of all twitter and linkedin are two completely unique social media platforms. Linkedin has a more formal note towards it & in twitter you can tweet about anything and everything. So why would someone use this feature. I think this feature is best suited for “Businesses” on these social media platforms. For example if you have posted a job opening on linkedin and you feel like sharing it to your twitter followers you can now do it by just selecting the option on your linkedin page. Here is the first look of the feature :

This is how it is going to appear on your linkedin page:

You will have an option provided in your profile where you can add your Twitter account. Now lets see how its going to be on Twitter, as mentioned earlier twitter is more or less an informal platform where you share anything and everything, hence its very important to have an option where you can share only selected stuff. You will be given this option wherein you can choose to sync all your tweets or only those which have #in in them. Here is a screen shot

The feature will roll out to everyone over the next couple of days (so be patient!) – This is what the Team from both twitter & Linkedin had to say.

Twitter #in is definitely like peanut butter and chocolate.

Hear it from the horses mouth, see what Reid Hoffman (co-founder, Linkedin) and Biz Stone (co-founder, Twitter) have to say about “Twitter #in” feature:

Hope you enjoyed the post today. We are really getting impatient now as we want to feel the new feature and have an hands on experience of the same.
